35th Annual THE PLAYERS Chapel Service
NE Florida FCA hosted the 35th Annual THE PLAYERS Chapel Service on Sunday morning, March 17, 2019 at TPC Sawgrass. FCA Director, Matthew Roop, opened the service in a spirit of worship sharing the following scripture passages:
Psalm 19:1 – The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
John 1:3 – Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
Colossians 1:16-17 – For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
Adam Campbell, THE PLAYERS Tournament Chairman, then welcomed all guests on behalf of TPC Sawgrass and THE PLAYERS. “Today, the top golf professionals in the world will compete for the honor of being named THE PLAYERS Champion, but for now, we pause and reflect on our many blessings in our annual THE PLAYERS Chapel Service. As we kickoff this magnificent championship day in worship, please keep the players, TOUR staff, patrons, volunteers and many others in your prayers as they continue to work tirelessly to distinguish THE PLAYERS as the Showcase of Excellence in professional golf, and recognize how blessed we all are to share our love and faith this Sunday at THE PLAYERS Championship.”
The extremely talented, Jason Lovins Band, lead attendees in three songs before Roop returned with Web.com Tour Professional, Justin Hueber, and his wife Sarah for an interview giving an honest look into the highs and lows of tour golf. “In golf there are more lows than highs. There are more losses to experience and there are wins” shared Justin. Justin and Sarah’s relationship has been one of long distance while dating and first married, to now being together (even out on Tour) as a result of their son, Jackson, being born this past year. Justin is currently healing from hip surgery and is eager to get back out on the course competing again. The Hueber’s journey thus far has taught them patience and commitment. “At times, you do question the journey you’re on, and you do question God,” Justin shared, “But we learn that God is faithful.”
George Powers, Pastor of Palm Valley Baptist Church, completed service with a gospel message and benediction:
G. – GOD = Everything starts with God, the giver of life, the Holy and perfect One.
O. – OBEDIENCE = Obedience to God’s Law is what is required to live in relationship with God. In spite of good intentions, we are disobedient time and again. Yet, Jesus lived a perfect life of obedience to the Father and was the fulfillment of God’s perfect Law.
L. – LOVE = God loved humanity enough to send His son, Jesus, to die for our disobedience, failure and sin. Jesus conquered sin and death, now granting His perfection/righteousness to us by simply placing our faith in Him.
F. – FOREVER = We can live in relationship with God forever by looking to what Jesus has done for us and placing our faith in Him.
